How to get the IRS Proof of Payment (Schedule 1) for the HVUT Form 2290 filing

  1. I don’t see the IRS stamp in Schedule 1.

IRS provides an e-file digital watermark and the received date in the center of the Schedule 1. Don’t worry if you don’t see a formal IRS stamp on the Schedule 1 as the e-file watermark is sufficient and acceptable by any government agencies.

  1. What should I do with the Schedule 1?

You can take the Schedule 1 to the state’s Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) and get the new tag for the new vehicle(s) or renew the tag for your old vehicle(s). Schedule 1 is a receipt of payment issued by the IRS and DMV verifies the information before issuing the new vehicle tag.
